I’m Stephanie Weaver, The Recipe Renovator. I love taking recipes and remaking them with healthier ingredients. I first started renovating recipes while working on a cholesterol-lowering project for Northwestern University Medical School in 1987.
I’ve been gluten-free since 2007, and (mostly) sugar-free since 2006. In 2014 I had to go low-sodium/salt-free and started on a migraine-friendly diet. I rebuilt my health by changing my diet, and I hope to inspire other midlife couples (and singles) to shift their diets to rebuild their health. I’m now following a modified paleo diet: gluten-free, no sugar, limited whole grain and beans, fish, egg, low-sodium whole dairy products in small amounts, and very occasionally pastured red meat. I actually preferred eating plant-based, and did so for four years, but my recent diagnosis required me to shift again.

I have a Master’s degree in Public Health in nutrition education and have been cooking delicious, healthy food for friends and family for more than three decades. I feature locally grown organic produce as much as possible, and encourage you to support local and organic farmers. I offer suggestions about how you can incorporate meat protein that’s produced in a healthful, sustainable way.
