On Sunday morning, our little nephew Cody woke up and told his parents that they should have a carnival, complete with a bouncy castle, clowns, a magic man. He wanted to invite all of his friends and sell ice cream from their little ice cream truck. As we are now in Make-A-Wish territory with Cody, it was all hands on deck to make this happen.
The Husband and I spent Sunday organizing our lives so we could get on a plane first thing Monday to be there. His cousin drove 4-1/2 hours from college to attend. Their neighbors and friends rallied the neighborhood troops to make it happen. It was a lovely, hot Texas evening.
Sadly, Cody did not feel well enough to sell ice cream from the truck during the party.
The bouncy castle was donated for as long as the family wants it.
Cody felt well enough to bounce in it the next morning.
More than 50 friends and family members gathered, including Cody’s mother Laura (background), Aunt Nancy and Cousin Kelly to her right.

At the end of the evening, a prayer circle and balloon release sent prayers upwards for a miracle.
If you would like to help Cody’s family, you can make a donation at codybrasich.com. (Please include “Cookies for Cody” in the memo box during your PayPal checkout process.) On Friday, my online bake sale and cookbook auction begins, with all the bidding happening on Facebook.

As a mom, this is difficult for me to read and not get emotional. I am so glad you are able to be there for Cody and his family. What a wonderful carnival!
I know, the whole thing is so bittersweet.
Many prayers and much hope being sent your way. Cody is blessed to have such incredible people in his life.
Thank you Teresa. We appreciate all prayers and hope.
Your family sounds pretty fantastic Stephanie. I am praying for a miracle for Cody (and all of you!).
Thanks Alyssa, we appreciate all prayers.
You are GOOD in a crisis…I know from my own cancer journey, especially your frequent love offerings before and after my surgery. Glad you and Bob are there to share your love–and cookies!
Thanks Peg.
What a lovely idea. Glad Cody’s wish for a carnival was granted. I wish the best for him.
Their friends and neighbors are remarkable people.
What an amazing family you are part of, Stephanie.
Liz, I agree, my in-laws are incredible.
